This blog is started as part of my course work for Rethinking Media, a communications course run as part of my subject for Masters Degree in Communication at UTS. As you might have already guessed, the aim of this blog is to explore the idea of the media, both past and present. Being a bit of a history nerd, I may occasionally search for examples that are well and truly beyond the commonly acknowledged timeline of when social media exists.
My argument is that human beings had always been social, and the media regardless of the form it takes had always existed in some form or other the moment humans decided to be the first and realised the second can be used as a tool to be social. I agree that web 3.0 had increased the pace and reach of social media, but at its heart I am not completely convinced that what we have is fundamentally different to what the ages past had used, collaborated and created.
